Distributor presentations tend to show geography, logos and years of experience. These signals do not reveal whether the partner can launch and develop a specific category today.
Move from territory to named accounts
Ask which buyers the distributor actively manages, what categories are involved and which launches were completed recently.
Evaluate the execution team
Identify the people responsible for sales, product, content, marketing, forecasting and service.
Test alignment before granting rights
Use a limited scope, launch plan and milestones. Territory and exclusivity should expand after performance is demonstrated.
